Cafe could help fly the flag

LAST year, I wrote to the Gazette about bells on the beach. Now I would like to write about the much-merited East Beach Café, of which Arun District Council is understandably so proud.

It's just that, to me, it's so dull, colour-wise, though not architecturally. So I would like to make a suggestion with regards to this. Now, with the Olympics soon to be upon us, how about flags on flagpoles all around the caf, with, of course, the Olympic flag, the Union Jack and the "Progress" emblem for Littlehampton to the fore.

Surely, then, local people would also see the wisdom of the council's decision to have such a controversial building on the seafront, and that it would, indeed, be a boost to Littlehampton's tourist potential in the 21st century.

Once more, I say to the council: "Go to the fore, be positive. Show the flag for Britain and Littlehampton".
