Home Manager of Sussexdown, Heather Rogers, accompanied Katrina Theedom, Zoe Wales, Jill Hall, Janna Walford and Dan Towell, who between them have completed a range of courses through the HIT Training Scheme – covering diverse subjects including cleaning and support services, team leadership and professional cookery.
The ceremony recognised the achievements of all five members of staff, who have each studied hard over the last year to complete their training. Zoe Wales, who has worked as a Domestic Assistant at Sussexdown for over four years, worked closely with her Line Manager, Ann Morris, to gain her Level 2 Certificate in Cleaning and Support Services and BTEC in English and Maths.
Zoe said: “It was great to celebrate the hard work that the five of us have put in over the past year. It’s been a bit of a challenge fitting studying and assessments in alongside work, but Ann and our colleagues at Sussexdown have been very supportive. Ann offered to be my reader and scribe in exams, as I’m dyslexic, and she was always available when I needed to chat.
“Completing the qualifications brings a real sense of achievement and I’m already planning my next course – this time in customer service training.”
Home Manager at Care South’s Sussexdown care home, Heather Rogers, said: “It’s very important to us at Care South that we encourage and assist staff in reaching their full potential and do whatever we can to help them develop professionally. We are very proud of our staff and it was lovely to see them rewarded at the HIT Training ceremony.”
HIT Training provides hotel, hospitality and catering apprenticeships, and ongoing staff development training, at all levels and across all areas of hospitality throughout London and the UK. Since its formation in 2006, HIT has supported 70,000 learners at more than 10,000 employer sites across the UK.
