With a rapidly ageing population, the issue of acute loneliness and isolation is one of the biggest challenges facing the area. Social research over the past few decades has shown that an average of 10% of older people feel “always” or “severely” lonely*. In Horsham District this could mean c. 2,000 older people are lonely.

The Breakfast Bap Café is being launched to support older people who may be lonely and isolated by providing an early morning social hub for them to come and socialise whilst enjoying one of our delicious homemade filled baps and a hot or cold drink.

Liz Wait Age UK Horsham Districts catering Coordinator says: “Many of the social environments for older people are closing and we aim to meet this need in a friendly, comfortable and fun setting.”

So come and join us at Lavinia House (behind the Drill Hall) from March 17th

( Monday to Friday between 9am and 11am) to celebrate the launching of our breakfast bap café.

It is a great way to meet new and old friends, have a freshly prepared breakfast bap and a drink. Have a read of the daily newspapers, a chat or to talk to our friendly and trained staff.
