Children receive funds from lawn mower racers

The British Lawn Mower Racing Association’s annual 12 Hour Race held in August succeeded in raising over £2000 for charity, and club chairman Pete Hammerton is seen presenting a cheque for £1566.18 to the children of Ingfield Manor, the school run by the cerebral palsy charity, Scope.

The money will go towards two projects currently being undertaken at the Five-Oaks based facility: the continuing development of an outdoor sports activity area purpose-built to accommodate the children’s disabilities, and the enlargement of the main hall to provide greater capacity for the school’s various social activities.

The club also donated £500 to Andover-based children’s charity, Brave Hearts.

The BLMRA’s now world-famous endurance event, in which intrepid racers drive throughout the night, saw the winning team cover a total distance of almost 350 miles.
