Cinema concern

As a previous – and fairly regular – patron I would like to make a couple of observations about Littlehampton’s new cinema operation.

Firstly, on a quick glance down the programme of films I was very disappointed to note that there seemed to be no matinée screenings.

I’m sure I can speak on behalf of most of the rest of the local grey-haired fraternity who, I’m sure, always provide well over 50 per cent of the total audience and many of whom prefer to go out in the daytime.

Secondly, I understand the new operation by The Windmill Cinema Ltd relies on the goodwill of many unpaid volunteers.

One has to commend and applaud the efforts of those helpers with their British ‘bulldog’ spirit in the face of adversity caused by Arun District Council.

It seems to me, however, this situation does enable the council to completely absolve itself of all responsibilities in regard to provision of a cinema in Littlehampton.
