Civic service delight

I AM writing to thank all those who attended my civic service at the weekend.

We held the event at Angmering Baptist Church.

It was led by the Rev Michael Bradshaw and it was a pleasure to share such a wonderful afternoon with so many guests.

I am greatly looking forward to meeting as many people as I can during my year in office as chairman.

There are so many unsung heroes of this district and if I can help to shine a light on you, then I will.

This year I will be raising funds, as many of you already do, for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It is such a worthy cause and more important than ever now that new horrifying statistics show that one in three of us will be affected by cancer in some way.

Anything that I can do to support the charity that is on the front line helping those in greatest need I will do.

The Gazette has always been a great supporter of the chairman of the council, and I will let readers know what is happening when.

Indeed, I realise many people are doing a grand job of raising funds for Macmillan themselves and if you would like my support, or if I can help by attending your event, I will where I can.

Please contact the chairman’s assistant who organises my diary, Lynn Haymes, on 01903 737617 or email [email protected]
