Colgate Primary’s athletics success

Friday June 20 started with 43 excited children from Colgate Primary school going off to compete in the annual key stage 2 athletics competition between 6 small schools in the Horsham area held at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre.

Having won in 2012 they were keen to regain the trophy. Following weeks of trials and practise, the children were ready to do their best, competing in a range of field and track events: long jump, triple jump, ball throwing, 600mlong distance, relays and sprints.

Sheer grit and determination was spread across their faces as everyone tried their very best in each event and by lunch time they were leading by just 1 point.

With many finals in the afternoon and tensions mounting amongst staff, children and parents they were all ecstatic at the final announcement.

Colgate Primary had won! Congratulations to all the children who took part. Colgate is very proud of you all!
