Community arts venue

REGARDING the article in on page 12 of last Friday's edition I've not seen the survey referred to would like to contribute to the debate, so thanks for the invitation for readers to tell you what we think. Given the local concern about the loss of the community use of DLWP I wonder whether the building could serve as a multi-functional space for community purposes? At its heart could be a small cafe/bar with the remainder of the building given over to an area that could be used for art/photographic exhibitions, small-scale music events, poetry readings, talks/lectures etc with, if the available space within the building permits, one or more meeting rooms. Whilst there are a number of halls/rooms for hire a modern, well laid out space that could primarily, but maybe not exclusively, serve as a community arts venue would be a most welcome additions to the town's facilities.
