Concern over hall

AS a member of one of the local art societies I would like to express our concern at the imminent demolition of St Nicholas' Hall, Arundel (the wooden building opposite the castle entrance), to make way for a museum.

Although the existing building needs some refurbishment or possible reconstruction to make it slightly larger, I feel it should remain as a venue for art and craft groups to display and, hopefully, sell the results of their efforts. It is by far the best location for such events, being next to the car park and opposite the castle.

Surely, if Arundel feels it must have a museum, another location in the town, or possibly within the castle, could be found.

In my opinion, museums are rarely visited when they’re free and virtually never if an entrance fee is charged.
