The fair, which has now become an annual event, is run by the Cootes Farm Community, a non-political, non-religious, not for profit group based in the neighbourhood close to Cootes Green and Merryfield Drive.

It was formed in 2011 with a view to encouraging new and long-lasting friendship with neighbours. It also aims to get everyone involved with their community, stage regular community events on the green and support and promote local businesses.

Chris Aldridge, from BBC Radio 4, acted as MC on Saturday. There were a variety of stalls selling food and beer, as well as various tombolas and, topically, a beat the goalie competition.

The charity partner this year is St Catherine’s Hospice and money was raised for the charity throughout the afternoon.
