Cull no solution

I write regarding the presence of our noble neighbourhood seagull.

I, for one, would rather be woken by the cry of a seagull than the loathsome sound of streams of traffic.

As for the Tuesday refuse collection, I do not understand why Arun District Council does not provide flip-top bins for our refuse, as it already has done for our recycling. Adur Council has already implemented this scheme and it works very well, I’m told.

This would put the beaks of the seagulls out of joint, but would at least stop people complaining about the mess the gulls make whilst trying to get at last night’s dinner leftovers.

On the culling of seagulls, or any other animal for that matter, this is not a lasting solution to the problems that supposedly exist between man and bird. We create our own problems, and blame should not be apportioned to a hungry and occasionally protective seagull.
