Custard would go down a treat

WE have had endless debates, reviews, procrastination and filibustering from the planners regarding the Arundel bypass and I think most of us have come to the conclusion that it will never get built.

However, Philip Tout's letter (Gazette, April 22), saying that we can drill for custard near the riverbank has certainly livened things up.

Has anyone contacted Birds yet to negotiate the contract for extraction rights?

Incidentally, in safe Tory constituencies there seems to be some irony in the Conservatives putting up posters saying "Vote for Change".
