Now we are in the depths of winter it seems even more ridiculous that we cyclists are not able to cycle the whole length of the promenade.

There are far fewer tourists and pedestrians which surely makes it an ideal time to allow cycling.

I understand that the local cycling group Bespoke have been campaigning for this for some years but seem to have hit a wall when it comes to getting positive responses from both the local and borough councils. Perhaps it’s an issue our newly elected MP may like to pursue for them.

As if this is not bad enough when I went to look at an exhibition recently displaying the details concerning the restructuring of the town centre I saw that when it comes to cycling it is going to be even more dangerous for cyclists than it is now.

And finally if we really want to be serious about reducing pollution in Eastbourne the answer is not to increase parking charges but rather to provide a safer cycling environment which I am sure would entice people from using their cars and getting out on their bikes.
