Deep contempt for our future

Following the 2008 bank crisis (that emanated from America), David Cameron in his election campaign told Sky News that '˜Any cabinet minister, if we win the election, who comes and says '˜here are my plans and they involve front-line reductions' will be sent back to their department to go away and think again'.

The proposed devastating cuts by East Sussex County Council to the community services for adult and child care seem to show that the Conservative government has now unlocked the door to prey on the most vulnerable and needy in our society.

This high and haughty attitude is both shameful and a disgrace, showing that those who are economically favoured are emotionally and practically distant from the truth and realities of life.

The proposed removal of the 100 per cent funding for the extra care unit at the Orangery Sidley, Bexhill, and the timing of it before the centre is even opened, shows an appalling taste.

I understand that such a centre seeks to lower the cost of care for the elderly and disabled, by centring it in one workable environment.

It also aims to empower its residents into independence.

So cutting the funding will only make for greater costs overall.

For the county council to cease the funding for the universal access provision open access drop in activities at our children’s centre is ludicrous.

This is where our children learn to socialise, to negotiate and interact with others and their environment – to become good citizens and worthy members of society.

So, to destroy the two excellent children’s centres that we have, demonstrates a deep level of contempt for the future of our country.

This shabby, illogical and aggressive Conservative thinking is bringing Britain into a selfish, uncaring and unliveable society. If you don’t believe me have a close look at your own environment and the shabby state of Bexhill.
