Symptoms of the condition which attacks the central nervous system most commonly appear in the 20s and 30s – when families and careers are developing. They can include problems with mobility and balance, vision, dizziness and fatigue which can come and go or get steadily worse.

This year the charity’s mouth-watering event, Cake Break, is aiming to raise more than £300,000.

Susan Greenwood, at Horsham and Crawley MS Society, said: ‘‘We at Horsham and Crawley MS Society have decided to do something completely different for us. We have an exercise class every Friday at the Tythe Barn, a Drop In every month at the same address, plus Idle Chatter and Sunday Social.

‘‘We think these events cover the needs of most people in the area experiencing MS. Exercise, relaxation and sociability, none of which have a particular emphasis, every one as important and enjoyable as the other.

‘‘This year we are branching out and having our Cake Break in the hall of The Unitarian Church, Worthing Road, RH12 1SL, which of course makes it much easier for everyone to come and enjoy buying cakes and drinks to have with their friends. We look forward to seeing as many as possible, it would be dreadfully disappointing to have any cakes left!

‘‘See you there - 27th May 10am – 12noon.’’

Nationally, the charity says everyone that takes part and raises money will be in with a chance of winning a baking master class with the Bake Off star herself.

Kimberley said: “Cake Break is a fun and delicious way to raise money to support the work the MS Society does to help people living with the condition, and it’s a great reason to get a bunch of friends together and show off your baking skills.’’
