Difficult decisions

FOLLOWING revelations in the Observer (January 21 that parking fees are to rise don't you just love Councillor Maynard's politically well used phrase that 'difficult decisions' have to be made.

Strange really that these so called difficult decisions are always more difficult for those they are aimed at rather than the decision makers.

I stopped using the De La Warr car park when the parking fee went from 80p per hour to 90p per hour.

I used it before once or twice a week for the bank and frozen food and for the tool shop and also for a coffee on the seafront.

I now use it once a month for the bank and everything else is from Sovereign Harbour or Focus or at a push in a quiet corner of Wickes, or very rarely Ravenside after two incidents of car damage in five years on that site.

The fee for most things, including bulky waste is going to rise as well so presumably more rubbish around the countryside as has widely happened already and rat infestation removal fees up or rising so if anyone sees a rat perhaps it will be a case of live and let live from now on.

So, what with the fees to dispose of our earthly remains going up and cabbies licence fee to carry us about before departure set to rise, its going to be a good year for the people we support at the Town Hall, perhaps the most difficult decision they have to make now is the percentage of their next pay increase and how to spend it.
