To mark the First World War centenary celebrations, this event is going to have a wartime theme and offers a choice of starters at either The Cobblestone Tea House or Chez Joel, a delicious main course at The White Horse and finally dessert at The Sussex Produce Company.

In keeping with the ‘Dig for Victory’ effort, each of the courses designed by the restaurants will be showcasing some of the finest local produce so you can sample delicious cuisine that has come directly from field to fork. Tickets are just £30 and include 2 glasses of wine.

The ticket price includes a donation to local independent charity Age UK Horsham District who support older people across the district including Steyning and the surrounding villages.

Community Fundraiser for the charity Lawrie Mallyon said: “It’s great to have the restaurants agree to help put on this superb dinner event and help raise some money in the process that will directly benefit the local people. The menus they’ve put together look delicious and we really hope that the community will come along and have a good time and support these local restaurants and this local charity together.”

Each month, Age UK Horsham District touches the lives of nearly 100 Steyning and Upper Beeding residents through their ‘Help At Home’ and ‘Home From Hospital’ services, and local clubs they run.

In addition, last year Age UK Horsham District helped Horsham District residents unlock over £1million of unclaimed benefits through their dedicated ‘Information and Advice’ team that can help pay for bills, rent, care or transport.

£62,000 of this was awarded to residents of Steyning. Many of these services do not receive any regular funding so they rely on donations, fundraising and charitable events such as the Dig For Victory Dinner to continue their vital work.
