Disenfranchised

County councillor Dr James Walsh complains (Gazette letters, May 16) that the method of electing county councillors is undemocratic, as voters are not properly represented.

Nonetheless, he apparently does not object to the voting system of the Joint Eastern Arun Area Committee, which, by permitting only county councillors to vote, disenfranchises district and parish councillors, and thus their constituents.
