Disgust at dog poo

THE letter from Joanne Payne (Gazette, October 13) prompts me to write.

Our refuse collectors call early. Recently, before we could reclaim our bin from the verge, two bags containing dog excrement were placed in it. One, a plastic bag, was tied, The other was an empty crisp packet.

I pinned a large, clearly written note to the tree on the verge. It read:

“Dear Dog Owner, you placed two bags containing your dog’s excrement into our empty dustbin. The bags are on the grass below for you to pick up and take to your own premises.

“We note this is a change from placing bags in the hedge. We hope your behaviour will improve.

P. & M. Tout.”

The bags remained (of course!), so my husband took them to a nearby dog litter bin. Someone else then had to deal with the matter.

Dog owners, why do you behave like this?

There is an obvious answer to the problem in Mewsbrook Park, as encountered by Joanne and other people.

There should be a total ban on all dogs (except guide dogs) in Mewsbrook Park and all other open spaces used by many people of all ages for leisure and pleasure.

Dog owners, please think about this, and be responsible and considerate.
