Emperor's new clothes
I READ with incredulity last week's article about Bexhill Museum chairman John Betts asking youngsters to recreate a scale model of one of the shelters on West Parade, in the belief this will 'encourage their creative talents'.
Clearly it will teach them how, even if you can create something totally unfit for purpose, you will always find someone to buy it.
As I read the article I was, for some unaccountable reason, reminded of Squealer in George Orwell’s Animal Farm and the children’s story about the Emperor’s new clothes.
