Estate agents to get baking for hospice

The team at the Tunbridge Wells office have been challenged to compete in various categories, including sweet making and cake baking, and will have their efforts judged by celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager.

Judging will take place between 11am and 1pm on Wednesday 30 September and Batcheller Monkhouse are inviting everyone to come along to sample the cooking, take part in the raffle and possibly even meet Rosemary herself.

The event is just one of several things the company are doing to raise funds for Chestnut Tree, their chosen charity for this year.

Chestnut Tree is the children’s hospice service for Sussex. They care for 300 children with life-shortening conditions and their families and never charge for their care. It costs £3.5 million every year to offer their care and they get less than 7% of their funding from central Government, meaning they rely on the generosity of the local community to keep their doors open.

“We are proud to be supporting Chestnut Tree” said Harriet Richardson of Batcheller Monkhouse “We felt it was an important local charity to support, especially as the hospice work with children in many of the areas that we have offices in, and just hope we can raise plenty of money and awareness for them. We would love to see as many people as possible at our Tunbridge Wells office at 1 London Road, between 11.00a.m and 1.00p.m on 30 September, the more the merrier.”

Before the bake-off a team from Batcheller Monkhouse will be entering the Chestnut Sussex 100, the charity’s annual cycling event, which will see them challenge themselves to 103km of Sussex countryside.
