Even more schools welcome to join Spirit FM’s singing competition

Spirit FM’s annual singing competition returns, and this year even more schools and groups from across West Sussex are welcome to get involved.

Sponsored by Knight Fencing of Chichester, the Xmas Factor is this year open to secondary schools, as well as to nurseries, toddler groups, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts, mother-and-child groups and infant and junior schools – in fact any group of children who are in festive voice.

Simply e-mail your entry or send in a CD of your Christmas song or carol and our panel of judges, led by Emily Barden, Curriculum Leader for Voice and Choirs at West Sussex Music Trust, will pick a winner before the end of the winter term. Subject to recording quality, all entries stand a chance of being played on Spirit FM.

The two winning groups (one comprising primary-aged or younger children and one comprising children of secondary school age) will win £250 for their school or group, plus a broadcast from their school or group.

“This is a great opportunity for local schools and groups to show off their singing and creative talents. We are delighted to be allowing a wider age group for entries this year and look forward to hearing the results on Spirit FM during the festive season,” says Spirit FM’s Programme Controller Stuart McGinley,.

“We always get a great response to The Xmas Factor and I’m so pleased with can open up the competition this year to older pupils.”

RULES

Groups may enter in one of two categories:

1. Primary and under (all members of the group must still be primary school age or under)

2. Secondary school (all members of the group must still be attending secondary school)

A group must comprise a minimum of four children

Entries can be made by post or email and should include:

Your carol or Christmas song, either as a CD or an MP3 file (nothing larger than MP3, please)

A note stating the group’s name and/or school, plus the name of the adult coordinating the entry, along with full contact details.

Entries should be sent to: The Xmas Factor, Dukes Court, Bognor Road, Chichester, West Sussex, PO19 8FX, or emailed via www.spiritfm.net by 9am on Saturday 7 December.

Judging will then take place, with winners announced before the end of term.

Please note: The broadcast element of the prize is subject to a site test to establish broadcast quality.

In the event that the winning schools/groups are located in an area where a signal is not possible an alternative prize will be given.
