Few will mourn loss of company

I am sure very few will mourn the passing of so-called waste company Kier into the annals of history in 2019 as far as East Sussex councils are concerned.
The performance of this company over the last couple of years has been abysmal. I work in sheltered housing, our bins (large square containers) are missed almost every other week.

Hide AdThe council says when you call them that you cannot report a missed collection until 8pm. This used to be 3pm which was reasonably acceptable, but the 8pm means that there is actually nobody to report the situation as the staff have gone home.
That leaves reporting the following morning by which time the next collection is two days late. I must also say that hopefully, once the Kier fiasco is over, we may get some better trained bin truck drivers.
At the moment if there is a traffic hold up, usually on a late week morning, you can bet that at the head of it is a bin truck stuck out in the road, double parked but with a parking space a few yards down the road.
The trucks regularly park between bollards and kerbs effectively holding up traffic while the driver sits motionless in the cab seemingly oblivious to the frustrated traffic stuck behind them.

Hide AdBexhill Road is a favourite and also Cornwallis Gardens, but the same has been seen on many roads even into Bexhill where parking their truck between a stationary parked car and the opposite kerb is a favourite.
So we can say farewell to a pretty useless waste company, let us hope the not so clever driving force go with them.
