Louise, who works at Horsham-based Action Medical Research as the children’s charity’s Senior Events Manager, will tackle her first marathon on 24 April 2016.

And she was delighted to receive support from Freeman Brothers, which is also based in North Parade, ahead of her big challenge. As well as donating £50, Abi Pattenden, the firm’s manager, will be helping to give Louise’s fundraising a boost during a collection in Swan Walk on Friday December 11 from 10am to 4pm.

Freeman Brothers Funeral Directors have been serving the families of Sussex and Surrey since 1855 from their branch in North Parade, Horsham, where the company is still based today – just a few doors away from Action Medical Research’s headquarters. The staff at the firm’s three branches in Horsham, Billingshurst and Southgate, Crawley, are all here to help the bereaved with a sympathetic and professional service.

“We are delighted to be supporting such a worthy charity based in our local area and we wish Louise every success with the marathon,” said Abi.

With the help of its supporters, Action Medical Research has played a significant role in many medical breakthroughs for more than 60 years, from the development of the first UK polio vaccines to the use of ultrasound in pregnancy.

It is currently funding research into premature birth meningitis, Down syndrome and epilepsy, as well as some rare and distressing conditions that severely affect children.
