Fleeced by the clock

DOES anyone actually check the time on your car park ticket as you clock into a car park?

Despite having two local hospitals in Chichester and Worthing, I was sent last Thursday to the Royal Sussex County in Brighton – and it’s on the eastern side of the town too!

The horrendous wait of 45 minutes to actually get in to find a place and then the one-and-a-half hour wait to see the consultant are another matter, but we didn’t check the time on the ticket until we came out and had to pay.

As my appointment was for 11.40, at 11.35 I left my wife in the car and she didn’t get into the park until 11.55. Yet the time on the ticket was 11.30!

When we complained, the chap on the contact screen checked and said all the cameras were showing the correct time and, surprise, surprise, they couldn’t see our car on their screens at any time.

So we were fleeced out of an extra £1.20, making our visit even more memorable. I wonder how many more extra £1.20s whoever runs the car park there got that day – and others elsewhere?
