Flooded road is a big problem

WITH the inclement weather we have been enduring of late, it is, I suppose, acceptable to see or have some surplus flood water on our roads, but surely not the amount that has been occurring in Sea Road, Littlehampton, even though this area has been known to flood previously.

People tell me this has been happening for years, so does West Sussex County Council highways department know of this?

And if they do, why has nothing been done?

I am also concerned that there were no flood warning signs in either direction to warn motorists of the hazard ahead, the last time it was flooded.

On closer inspection I could see there was a drainage system in place, however, the amount of surface water suggests these drains are either inadequate for the job or are damaged or blocked.

Another point is that, while this flooding exists, we cannot provide a proper service to our visitors or residents, as the flooding takes over the parking spaces in this area, including the disabled bays.

I am in the process of writing to West Sussex County Council and will be awaiting its response.
