Follow the plot...

He also seems to believe that his anonymous supporters were at work, college or school.

If like some of us he had been out on the streets talking to people instead of sitting his armchair making sweeping statements, he would have heard the regret people felt that the demonstration was not on a Saturday!

He would also have heard young mothers bemoaning the loss of the walls which had set clear boundaries for their children and given them a safe area to play.

Where children see adventure, mothers see dangers, which is why they would not want their children kicking balls through the wooden structures (as one of the schoolchildren suggested in their letter) right by a road.

When I had a meeting with Tony Leonard I offered to go out on the streets with him to prove my point on the strength of feeling about the shelters from the public in general, but he preferred to talk with me for an hour in his office.

If J Harris and Alan Hearne had followed the plot they would have realised that it was not the modern aspect of the shelters people were objecting to, but their unattractive appearance and their unsuitability for purpose.

Without Jackie Bialeska many of us would have been unaware of the changes the council were proposing and would not have become vocal about our objections, which is what democracy is all about.

It is also important not just doing things for yourself but on behalf of others.

So please J Harris and Alan Hearne, make sure you know the plot before you try to decry it.
