Forget defeatism and look forward

I am pleased to say that 52 per cent of Britain voted to leave the EU, which I believe was the right decision.

Yet it is strange that a number of pessimists have been petitioning for a second vote on this matter because they did not get their choice or even bother to vote at the time. If a second referendum was even attempted there would probably be riots followed by a call for a third referendum and then a fourth and so on, none of which would impress our European neighbours.

Also it seems that many of these sceptics have forgotten the crucial motives for holding the referendum in the first place. These reasons which must now be addressed and put into practice by the Government include: controlling immigration, leading as an independent, sovereign nation, developing trading relationships and improving the economy.

The decision to leave the EU has been made, there is no going back and for many it is a time of celebration.

So forget defeatism and let’s look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead in both Europe and the rest of the world.
