The Friends of Eastbourne Hospital held their 15th annual art exhibition in November.

Our plans for a physical exhibition had to be cancelled in order for the event to be a Covid safe event.

Following this decision, we decided to hold a virtual art exhibition to raise funds for our current project to make radiology digital at the Eastbourne District General Hospital.

Much to our surprise we were delighted by the huge support from 42 local artists who between them entered 196 paintings for the exhibition.

The Friends office with much creativity and attention to detail managed to display all these 196 paintings on our own website.

The website attracted a wide audience resulting in 10 paintings being sold.

Christopher Osborne’s generous donation of his painting titled A Local Seascape for a silent auction raised £550.

Eastbourne Framers kindly displayed this beautiful painting in their shop window during November and it was much admired.

The Chatfield Cup awarded for the ‘best in show’ was judged by Nigel Greaves. The winner was Robert Stevens for his stunning painting of the Red Arrows performing their Tornado manoeuvre over Eastbourne Pier (pictured).

The Friends are very grateful to all the local artists who supported our virtual art exhibition making it such a success.

And together with some generous donations we were able to raise £3,080 towards our current project.
