Give project a chance

I WAS heartened to read the letter by Mr J Harris in the Observer (October 8) as I was beginning to think that I was the only person living in Bexhill looking forward to the completion of the Next Wave project.

I, like many other of the Observer’s correspondents, consider the proposed shelters to be both ugly in their design and unfit for purpose in protecting those sheltering from the elements.

That said, we moved from London to Bexhill three years ago and count our blessings every day that we now live where we do. Ill-conceived seafront shelters will not change that.

I acknowledge that there are other issues of concern, but come on Bexhillians.

Let’s give the project a chance and look beyond what our seafront is like today.

Who knows, this time next year even the most pessimistic may be saying privately if not publicly: “I suppose it’s not too bad”.
