Glebelands School hold 5km Cancer Research race

Glebelands School hosted a 5km race in aid of the Cancer Research fundraising event ‘Race at Our Place’.

Approximately 70 girls took part and each of them had trained hard in preparation for the race, so they could collect sponsorship to add to the Glebelands overall target of £500.

The race started at 3.30pm after school had finished and the students were given the opportunity to dress up, walk, jog or run the distance and collect their medal at the end.

One of the Year 11 students donned leg warmers and sweat bands to do a group warm up with a local band playing out on the field. Lots of other teachers were out stewarding, running and cheerleading.

“It was great to so see so many students all running in aid of cancer research especially those running with messages for friends and loved ones affected by cancer,”said Miss Nadine Clayton from the P.E. Department. “All the students whether they ran, jogged or walked across the finish line had a smile on their face to collect their medal!”
