Golden opportunity missed

I was appalled to read members of the Fire Authority “explain” that they did not come to last week’s public meeting in Battle because they wanted to make their decision about the options for savings after they had heard the results of the consultation.

This is a completely nonsensical position.

What better place to listen to consultees and the public members of the Fire Authority claim to serve than at a public meeting designed to give them the opportunity to do just that?

I doubt the Officers’ report to the Fire Authority will give a verbatim account of the meeting so I suggest all but the three Fire Authority members present have missed a golden opportunity to hear what residents of Battle and the surrounding area think about the proposals which affect their communities.

Once again I urge everyone to go to www. ESFRS.org and respond to the consultation questionnaire.
