For something which we are involved in daily it is surprising how little we know about the recycling process other than to put certain items into their designated bins.

During the next 45 minutes, this was to change as we answered the question, ‘What happens to my recycling?’

In brief it is delivered to Ford Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) via a network of transfer stations. It is then mechanically sorted and separated into individual material types, baled up then transported to re - processors for manufacturing into new goods and products. We then – guess what - start all over again!

There were many follow up questions, from interested ladies, and Caroline was warmly thanked by Vice President Jean Minter – thank you Caroline for such a succinct and professional presentation.
