Good learning experience

South East schools and colleges are being encouraged to enter this year’s Edwards education awards, organised by national charity Epilepsy Action.

The Edwards aim to recognise educational establishments who are providing a supportive learning environment to pupils or students with epilepsy.

The charity is encouraging nurseries, schools, colleges and universities from across the South East to get involved and show their outstanding support for students with epilepsy. Nominations can be made by educational establishments or parents and students.

We want to reward those establishments we believe are going that extra mile to make sure pupils or students with epilepsy have a good learning experience. It could be training all members of staff, holding an assembly to tackle any myths, or a buddy system to support pupils with epilepsy. All these things can help to make sure that young people with epilepsy receive support at school to enable them to reach their full potential.

Epilepsy affects an estimated 63,400 children and young people aged under 18 in the UK.

The closing date for entries is May 3. Award winners will be notified by May 10 and the award presented during National Epilepsy Week, May 19-25 May.
