Good news for college - but where are the solar panels?

It is really good news that a new development for Hailsham Community College is in the planning and very much needed.

However, looking at The artist’s impression, presumably based on an architect’s design, I see there are no solar panels on the roof. The question is, why are there no solar panels?

We are being told all the time that we must take care of the environment, do what we can to reduce emissions etc.

At the same time as this news was in the paper, leaflets are being distributed by Wealden and East Sussex County Council encouraging properties to have solar panels which “means you can reduce the amount of electricity that you buy and reduce your carbon emissions”.

So, we householders are being encouraged to do this but surely all new builds and especially large buildings like the proposed school should always have solar panels installed.

It all appears somewhat contradictory. The Hailsham Primary School recently built in Park Road doesn’t have solar panels either!
