IT gives me great pleasure to welcome Cllr Deirdre Williams to our association. A hard-working, diligent councillor, Deirdre has served all the residents of Rother but particularly those in Bexhill with distinction and energy over the past 13years.

Deirdre always brings to the table common sense, combined with straight talking which has earned her respect from all sides of the political divide both within the council and the wider public.

A former Mayor of Bexhill who cares and has a passion for what we all treasure so much about our town, her interests include improvements to Egerton Park, Combe Haven Countryside Park and protecting the built environment.

We, the Independent Association members of Rother District Council, are delighted that a highly-respected, long-serving councillor, has shown the courage to stand up and speak up for Bexhill and not be caught in this awful trap of toeing the party line even when you know it is wrong.

Honesty, integrity and sincerity is something we hope many others will also show, and join us in giving Bexhill a voice that will deliver better democracy for all.
