Great Woods do withstand the trample of time
In reply to Pat of Battle and Richard Smith’s letter in last week’s Observer, we have walked Battle Great Wood since the 1960’s I can assure everyone, that it does recover its charm.
However, walkers must take their share of the blame for the treacherous condition of the paths.
I enclose a photograph taken earlier this week showing a portion of one of the tracks and its lethal slippery surface.
Not a hoof print or tractor rut in sight!
