The councillor spoke with representatives from the Worthing-based charity SASBAH, talked to the service-users and even had lunch with them at the Lodge Hill Centre on London Road.

SASBAH is the Sussex Association for spina bifida and hydrocephalus and is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2015. It joined forces with Rotary to fund the three-day break which saw service users enjoy abseiling, orienteering, rifle shooting and tunnelling.

Mrs Goldsmith said she was delighted to be invited along and was impressed with the work of the charity, which supports around 500 disabled people and their families across Sussex.

SASBAH CEO Rom Sanglaji said: “We were thrilled that councillor Goldsmith gave up her precious time, at the weekend, to come and meet a variety of people from SASBAH.

“She was very down to earth, was happy to speak with many of our service-users, and she was genuinely interested in the work that we do.”
