Hailing those who made run happen

AFTER five months of cold, warm spring sunshine greeted the runners, supporters and spectators for Sunday's Littlehampton Sport Relief Mile and was a joy to behold.

Although I was event organiser in name, nothing could have been achieved without the immense input, support and contributions from the following people who crewed the good ship "Team Littlehampton".

My huge and sincere thanks go to:

Arun District Council's indefatigable and inspirational Phil Graham; Harbour Park's Gary, Westley and Lyn for all assistance and input; Littlehampton Town Council's Lyn Tees and "A Teamers" Mick and Gerry for a brilliant job thoughout; our sublime Master of Ceremonies Keith Croft, for raising many a smile and for creating such a relaxed, warm and welcoming atmosphere;

Neil Croft and his team of shiny, happy colleagues from Inspire Leisure, for providing pre-run warm-ups, mile "rowing" and for their ever-welcoming presence; Mal, Ross, Nick and all air cadets from 2351, Bognor Squadron for their superb contribution in attending to all stewarding and marshalling duties;

Jason Puttick and St John Ambulance colleagues from Bognor and Chichester for providing essential medics; Gazette editor, Roger Green and photographer Stephen Goodger for their substantial contributions; Sussex Police.

Last, but by no means least, my own team colleagues, wife Barbara, daughters Kirsty and Bren and Jemma Jenkins for their fantastic contribution and input.

Thank you all and see you in 2012.
