Hands off the Recreation Ground

Congratulations to Battle Town Council for rejecting an appeal from Battle Abbey School to build a new indoor sports facility at George Meadow.

I hope now they will continue the good work and reject any proposal for a building on the towns recreation ground.

How Naive of Cllr.Jessop to think a large sports facility would fit on the site of a couple of “nearly derelict”small buildings without being a blot on the landscape plus the problem of providing an additional Parking area for the centre, this also adds to the problem of getting traffic in and out of the grounds onto an already busy North Trade Road.

Let’s leave the Recreation ground as it is, a lovely open space used by a large number of people, children and adults alike, football, tennis, picnics, games as well as the very good children’s areas.

So let’s enjoy the green area the great view and not fill the ground up building by stealth bit by bit.

By the way it would be nice to have the three seats replaced in the beech alcoves, as the seats were only taken to be refurbished.(long ago).
