Hearing voices of young people

As newly elected councillors to Rye Town Council, it has struck us that the voice of young people is seldom heard in official meetings.

There are a number of teenagers in the town and who also attend Rye College from the villages, and it is important that when we are discussing matters that affect them, either now or in the near future when they are adults, that we hear their point of view.

We have met with the head and executive principal at Rye College and will be speaking in assemblies to young people in October, in the hope of setting up a series of meetings to hear from young people what they would like in the town and how we might go about achieving it.

If you are a student and would like to take part, we very much look forward to seeing you in October to hear from you.
