Heartfelt read

I found your feature on Sir Peter Bottomley MP’s response to the tragedies in Libya (February 26) a moving and heartfelt read.

Sir Peter reminds us all that compassion and understanding are of the utmost importance in these turbulent times. As a young adult, I have grown up in a world tormented by war-related headlines.

The result is a peculiar kind of desensitisation; an acceptance that bad things happen all over the world and that there is little I can do about it.

Sir Peter’s words reminded me that horrific acts such as the murders of Christians in Libya are not the kind of thing one should ever simply accept.

War is a terrible thing and we should never become used to it.
