History revealed

FIRST, may I thank you for printing my letter (Gazette, January 21) about the old butcher's shop on the corner of New Road and Pier Road.

The response has been great, but no one has come up with photos of the shop.

The stories I have been told could fill a book. One lady remembers her mum taking her shopping to buy half pig's heads for threepence in old money. A man remembered being a butcher's boy in 1953/53.

Three names linked with the shop have been mentioned, dating back to 1911.

Thank you all.
