Has anyone else seen the horrific state of the Carpet Gardens?

I happened to take a drive along the seafront and as I approached and passed the Carpet Gardens which has won prizes and is globally known for the display that is put on each year.

Well I was absolutely horrified and embarrassed at what I saw.

All along the Carpet Gardens I saw how it was all covered with weeds, dead flowers plus pots that once had flowers in them, had not been looked after at all.

This is a disgrace for our town and for the holiday makers.

To come across this is just so embarrassing and not what Eastbourne likes to achieve.

I know we have had lockdown, but surely someone could have made an effort to make some sort of show for the residents as well as the visitors!

I am sure that if the council had put out a request for volunteers to come along and help prepare the ground and help to plant, then many of the locals would gladly come along to do so.

I would like to think that the council could have found the money somehow to buy plants and establish this yearly wonder which is all part and parcel of the town in the summer.

I wonder what other residents and even visitors think of their disappointment?
