Horsham charity raises £500 at swimathon

The ARK Horsham recently took part in the Swimathon organised by Horsham Lions Club last Sunday.

This is an annual event, encouraging local groups, organisations and charities to join in and raise some money. Half of the sponsorship money raised goes to a charity chosen by Horsham Lions, and the other half to a charity of the participants’ choice, in our case, The ARK Horsham. This year, the Lions’ charity is the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service, and the donations are going towards the purchase of night vision equipment for a helicopter, which will service the Horsham area.

ARK provides a service offering support, guidance and mentoring for those disadvantaged by life-controlling issues such as substance misuse, poverty, repeat offending and homelessness. Through a practical outworking of the Christian faith, ARK provides a truly holistic approach to tackling the whole array of life-controlling issues. Zoe Tanswell from Ark said: “ARK volunteers made up two teams of 4 people, widely ranging in age and ability. It was a fun-filled afternoon. In total we swam 188 lengths and have raised a total of £500, which will be split between the two charities. Many thanks to those who have supported and sponsored us.”
