Staff and volunteers were joined in the Carfax by ‘Vera’ the charities giraffe and Mickie Driver dressed in his full pearly king attire. Mickie was busking all day and entertained shoppers young and old with the children especially fascinated by the barrel organ.

The public were very generous donating money and we raised a magnificent £530.17 from our collection. Nikki Cannon Regional Fundraiser said “We are so grateful to everyone who volunteered their time on Saturday helping collecting money and raising awareness of the charity and a ‘special’ thank you to Mickie Driver who has been a wonderful ambassador of the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for a number of years. Thanks must also go to all those people who kindly donated, we are extremely grateful for the support”.

The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy provides a specialist service for families of young children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties. Parents and children learn daily living skills together at our School for Parents using the principles of Conductive Education. We support families with babies and children under five years of age.

We receive no statutory funding and rely entirely on the support of the community to raise the £650,000 needed to ensure that this vital and much needed service can continue.
