Horsham district’s Set4Success announces new winners

Another nine young talented local Sports Stars were given Set4Success Awards in May.

They were: Lenaya Page who is our first winner specialising in the relatively new sport of Climbing; Henry Lowis who is the first person to be selected for our Sports Officiating Award; Callum Vinall for Baseball; Finlay Hillicks and Sean Richardson who are both receiving second awards for their Rugby skills, Marco Penge Horsham’s 14 year old Golf star of the future, Tara Norris who continues to progress in her chosen sport of Cricket, and Jade Brewster for her spectacular Pole Vaulting.

Set4Success is the local partner of the national SportsAid Charity and they are also recognising the the achievements of some of our winners.

Together with all of the previous winners in the 2012/13 School Year, 21 Awards will be presented at the Annual Award Ceremony to be held at the fantastic South Lodge Hotel on Friday, June 21.

Our special guests this year who will present the Awards and talk about their sporting lives and the high and lows that they encountered are Martin McElhatton and Jade Lally.

Martin is a former Paralympic athlete having played wheelchair basketball for Great Britain in the 1984 Olympic Games.

Martin is now chief executive of WheelPower – British Wheelchair Sport at Stoke Mandeville Stadium in Aylesbury where he has worked for over 20 years.

Martin has been involved as an athlete, coach and administrator within sport at local, national and international level and is currently President of the International Wheelchair Tennis Association and Chairman of the National Wheelchair Tennis Association.

Jade is currently Britain’s top female Discus Thrower, hopefully destined for the Rio Olympics.

On July 9, Set4Success is also hosting a fundraising evening in the Summer Marquee at the Green Man in Partridge Green.

A spectacular fun event is in prospect with a wonderful three Course Dinner, a sports quiz running through the evening, various quick sporting contests involving such things as darts, putting and pool, and an auction of some magnificent sporting memorabilia.

Many local companys have already booked table including Spofforths, Wakefields the Jewellers, ATOM and DC Leisure and also some family groups and friends, each wanting to become Champions on the night!

Tickets are only £30 and all proceeds will go to Set4Success to help our talented young sports people
