How does anyone communicate?

I am responding to a letter from Jo James chief executive of Kent Invicta Chamber about mobile phones.

Please don’t think you have a complex Jo, the situation is appalling and extremely worrying.

I find it hard to believe that phones are allowed in the classroom!

How on earth is any work done at all? I think the word discipline is missing. Is it their human rights that stop any head teacher for daring to ban them I wonder.

Have you also noticed young mothers and fathers collecting children from school or nursery? Children trailing behind them while parents are engaged in obviously what is much more important business than keeping their child safe.

Then their are the parents that are maybe struggling financially but the latest phone is a priority. I have heard so many times on buses and trains ‘I’m on the train. Will ring you when I arrive’ plus copious annoying calls.

Is it not possible to say at the start of the day: ‘I will be on the train arriving at...’ it is called communication.

How anyone growing up today will be able to conduct a healthy relationship in adulthood is concerning.

It is like a creeping disease and it is very, very worrying.

Then, of course, there are the proven dangers of excessive usage which are continually covered up.

How long did it take for so called experts to decide that smoking was dangerous and even to others that did not smoke? So Jo rest assured that there are many of us that feel the same.
