Over 260 students from Year 9 had the opportunity to meet employer representatives from business areas such as the Fire Service, the Armed Forces, HR, Journalism, Banking, Photography, IT and Engineering to name but a few.

As part of the morning’s activities, Year 9 students worked in small groups with several business volunteers.

The students had five minutes to quiz each employer on any aspect of their job such as; qualifications and skills needed different entry routes, working hours, income and training and development opportunities.

Reflecting on the morning of Speed Dating, Mrs Wilson commented on” how seriously students had taken this event, which compliments the Year 9 option process, to learn about a range of job roles which will enhance their knowledge and understanding of career opportunities available to them in the future”.

In addition, the Careers Department would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Sandy Duck for helping to find a number of our business volunteers and to our Governors, parent volunteers and friends of the school including , Billingshurst Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce who gave up their free time to take part.
