Itchingfield choir sing at cathedral service

Organised by the Royal Society of Church Music, of which St Nicolas is a member, the format was taken from a festival service booklet put together to commemorate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, called ‘thy kingdom come, thy will be done’.
Following several practices at Mags Fisher’s house, and 2 under a choir leader at Haywards Heath Methodist Church and St Wilfrid’s at Bognor Regis, we were eager for the real thing.

By 5.30pm we were robed and ready and the congregation was seated behind the choristers.
The service included the lovely melodic and gentle anthems ’Walk Humbly with our God’ by Malcolm Archer and ’God be in my head’ by Philip Wilby.
‘There is a higher throne’ by Keith and Kristyn Getty and ’There’s a wideness in God’s mercy’ by Maurice Bevan were two particularly memorable hymns.
Sharing our love of singing with so many other choristers in such a lovely cathedral was a really rewarding experience.
